Lord Nelson Pottery 400 ml Jug : Indian Tree pattern

Lord Nelson Pottery was a trade name used by Elijah Cotton Ltd.  Elijah Cotton opened the Nelson Pottery in 1885 in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, on the site of a previous pottery founded in 1758.  A crown was added to some of the pottery marks in 1956.  The Lord Nelson Pottery closed in 1981.

This attractive and sturdy jug in the ever-popular Indian Tree pattern is 13.75 cm high and has a capacity of 400 ml (just under ¾ pint).  There is a band of gilding round the rim and along the handle. The backstamp (see photo) has a crown and the letter N and reads: Lord Nelson Pottery, England, 10-75.  The ‘75’ probably means 1975 was the year of manufacture; ‘10’ may refer to either the month or the pattern number.  The gilding is a little rubbed on one or two places on the rim; apart from this, this jug is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.  Contact us about this item.
