Palissy Side Plate : Game Series ‘Pheasant’

This side plate is 20 cm in diameter and is part of Palissy’s popular Game Series.  It features two grouse in the centre with a border of flowers and leaves in dark brown.  The backstamp (see photo) reads: A member of the Royal Worcester Group; Palissy, England, Est. 1853*; Game Series, and carries the pattern number 6-9.  This plate must have been made some time between 1958 and 1989.  It would be equally suitable as a display item or to complete a dining set.  It is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing.  Click here to ask us about this item.

* This date is incorrect.  There were a number of companies occupying the pottery site at Longton, Stoke-on-Trent from the middle of the 19th century, but the Palissy Pottery was not established until 1946.  It was bought by the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company in 1958 and continued in operation until 1989.
